Rosehip Oil Benefits  – How I use Rosehip Oil in my skincare routine:

Rosehip Oil benefits In the morning skin care: I have been using Rosehip oil after I exfoliate, cleanse, tone, and moisturize my face. This beauty oil is very light weight and absorbs so quickly, that I’m always adding an extra dab under my eye area just in case I need it. It also helps prevent under eye makeup creasing. I only use a dime sized amount in the morning. I let it soak into my skin for a minute and wipe away any excess oil with a dry cotton pad. After that, I apply my bb cream, primer, and go about my makeup as usual. This helps keep my skin looking well hydrated all day!

Rosehip Oil benefits Before bedtime skin care: I use my rosehip oil on my face after I’ve removed my makeup, exfoliated, cleansed and moisturized. I use a generous quarter sized amount of the rosehip oil on my skin all over my face. At night, I add a little dab of Vaseline on top of the absorbed oil under my eye area to help heavily seal in the oil. This method has been helping me battle under eye wrinkles and help prevent them!

I like to use all types of oil for specific needs. For example, dark under eyes – I use sweet almond oil. Rose hip oil is my favorite beauty oil to use at bed time because it specifically helps fight those under eye wrinkles! I also have an article just about How to remove under eye wrinkles using Rosehip Oil.

Rosehip Oil benefits upon waking up: When I wake up in the morning, my skin always looks hydrated, not greasy. I love the glow my skin has in the morning when I use my Rosehip oil before bed. I admit, sometimes I’m too lazy or forget to apply the oil and I can always tell the difference.

When I do use rosehip oil, I wake up in the morning and I don’t have any signs of dehydrated skin. No dry patches or flakiness, and especially no fine lines! I usually get this weird fine line in my forehead when I sleep on my side, not the case when I’m using my rosehip oil! 🙂 Many people notice the rosehip oil is good for acne scars and helps fade the acne scars over time. Lets talk about rosehip oil for acne.

Rosehip Oil Benefits for Acne Scars and Acne

If you suffer from acne scars and lots of face acne, rosehip seed oil is good for your skin. Lots of people think if the have oily skin or acne, they can’t use rosehip seed oil for skin care. That’s a myth. Your skin is producing excess oil because your skin is dehydrated. When your skin produces too much oil, your pores easily get clogged and acne happens.

I suggest you start drinking more water and using rosehip oil on your acne and face. The rosehip oil will create a protective barrier so your skin won’t get dehydrated. You skin will thank you by giving you a healthy complexion. Your acne scars will fade faster when you use rosehip oil. Rosehip oil has vitamins that help the skin heal and regenerate healthy new skin cells.

You can use rosehip seed oil for acne and acne scars and see improvement withing two weeks. I wrote about rosehip oil benefits Acne here.

YES! It’s OK to Use on Oily Skin

If you have oily skin, you can use rosehip oil on your oily skin. The skin care benefits of rosehip oil make it perfect for oily skin. Rosehip oil is a light weight oil that can deeply penetrate the skin and help remove excess oil from your face.

Oil removes oil. Here’s how to apply rosehip oil on oily skin. First make sure your skin is clean, next you can apply some rosehip seed oil on your oily face and gently wipe it off with a paper towel. Try doing this twice.

How to use Rosehip Oil on your face:

1. First prep your skin. Make sure your skin is clean and exfoliated to make sure the rosehip oil is deeply absorbing into your skin. I like to use baking soda to exfoliate the dead skin.
2. Apply a small amount of rosehip oil into the palm of your hand
3. Gently pat the rosehip oil onto your skin with your fingertips.
4. After five minutes apply another small amount of rosehip oil onto your dry skin areas such as under your eyes and forehead. Use rosehip oil on wrinkles!

The rosehip oil should be deeply absorbed into your skin and helping to create a protective barrier so your skin does not dehydrate.

The Rosehip oil benefits are truly amazing! Here’s some photos of me using my rosehip oil:

A Rosehip is that part of the rose that holds the rose petals and seeds. After a rose blooms the petals gradually fall off. What’s left is the rose hip. This rosehip has seeds inside. If the rose was pollinated, the rosehip will ripen and, you can plant the seeds. Most people that have rose bushes in their garden will cut the rose hip off the plant to ensure the rose bush spends all it’s energy into making more beautiful rose blooms and not seeds!

Rosehip Oil Benefits
This is a rosehip. After the rose petals fall, the rose hip develops the pollinated seeds.

Thank you so much for reading rosehip seed oil uses health benefits skin care and stopping by! I primarily use rosehip oil for face skin care, and I use olive oil for my body skin care. There’s a couple reasons why. Rosehip seed oil is more expensive and rosehip oil is a lighter oil making it perfect for using rosehip oil for face anti aging. On the other hand, olive oil is thicker and less expensive making it perfect for your hair and body! Does that make sense? I recommend you also read about the 20 Skin Care Benefits of Olive Oil. 1. Jen,

I love your website and have been trying many of the treatments you recommend. I’ve been trying your anti-wrinkle oil recipe (the one with glycerin and hemp oil and olive oil). I’m 39 and have been obsessed with trying to get rid of some lines under my eyes. Now, I’m reading this post about the Rose Hip Oil and am wondering which treatment is better for lines/wrinkles. I live in CO which is very dry and I have very dry skin in top of that. Please help!

    1. Hi Marcie,
Thanks for reading! For your dry skin and wrinkles, I recommend using the rose hip oil at night generously and on top of that, apply a thin layer of Vaseline. That will help seal in the moisture. If your skin has trouble retaining the moisture, you may need to exfoliate the dead skin on the surface, try mixing olive oil with baking soda to make a thin paste and gently exfoliate. The olive oil will also help your dry skin! I would replace the help oil with rose hip oil, that’s what I’ve been trying and it works better!
      I hope this helps!

      1. Thank you, Jen! I’ve been using the baking soda as a cleanser almost every night. I’ve been using the rice water cleanser almost every night along with alcohol free witch hazel that contains rose water. I’ll add the rose hip oil next. Thanks again for your website. It’s great! I’ve also been thinking of adding your “red” mask for wrinkles (can’t remember the name of it at the moment). I’m hoping with continued use, I will see some, preferably all, of the lines around my eyes disappear. 🙂

  2. I have already used this rosehip oil for my dark circles and you know it reduces my dark circles in just only one week. I also used it many face packs.

  3. Hi jen

It’s really wonderful experience to visit ur website – my under eye wrinkles are almost removed – my skin is healthy after using rosehip oil-
Thanks alot for making this website

    1. Hi Falak,
Thank you so incredibly much for taking the time to visit my blog and try a remedy. Yes, rosehip oil is amazing and nourishing for skin care, and you know it’s the truth. 🙂 Thank you for letting me know. Take care,

    1. Hi Amber,
Yes you can apply the rosehip seed oil over your moisturizer if you want. Although rosehip oil is also an all natural organic moisturizer itself.
      Good luck!

  4. Hey, I just wanted to know I’m 19 and mainly want this for my acne and scarring but if its okay for me to use since it has lots of anti-aging properties too?

    1. Hi Sehar,
Yes, this is perfect for acne and scarring. Once you turn twenty, you need to really start anti-aging preventative skin care. Many people actually start getting acne in their 20’s that never had it before because skin shedding slows down. For you, I recommend exfoliating with baking soda morning and night and using the rosehip oil after to moisturize.
      Good luck!

  5. Hi Jen, what a fantastic site/blog, your information is wonderful! I’m loving the Rosehip oil and I know you can use it under eye but I’m just wondering if you can use it on the eyelid? And all around the eye area in general? Thanks, Tina.

  7. Hey there! I would really appreciate it if you could help me with my skin.. I’m literally to the point of tears… I just hate it so much. My under eye area has a lot of wrinkles and redness and I’m only 16 years old…it affects my confidence level and just makes me feel like complete ugliness.. I’m so desperate for results.. I can’t even wear makeup anymore because it just increases the visibility of my wrinkles.. I’m have really fair, dry, sensitive skin (I’m a ginger)..I don’t know if that makes me more prone to wrinkles..but if you could please get back with me so maybe you could help me figure out a skin care plan to fix these problems.. Because as I said before I have no confidence left..please reply and help me!! Thank you so much!

    1. Hi Dania,
I’m so sorry to hear about what’s going on. I understand the frustration of covering up the under eye area and making the eye area worse and more wrinkled. I had the same problem! My skin is combination, I’ll be oily in my T-zone and dry around my under eye area. I dealt with it for years…. I finally fixed the problem by adjusting my skin care and makeup application. You need a heavier oil, first of all, I remove my makeup with regular extra virgin olive oil. You will need to keep the under eye area deeply hydrated. If you’re not getting good results with rose hip oil, try olive oil. Apply it lightly in the morning under your eyes and rose hip oil on the rest of your face. Allow it to absorb into your skin. Also apply a bb cream or cc cream on top, next after your skin is protected, apply a primer, I use the elf primer. You can ally makeup lightly on top, i use the rimmel matte makeup and i powder over it with the elf hd powder. It works great! Finally no creases. I hope this helps!

  12. Hi Jen,

I loved your article. I just started using rosehip oil in the morning and night. As of now, I just apply sunscreen on top. I dont use makeup everyday as I have sensitive skin and I have some acne as well now. I am not exactly sure how good makeup is for everyday use.
In the article, you mentioned you use bb cream. Can you tell which one you use? I have oily skin and I started using only cruelty free, vegan products. Do you know any good bb or cc creams that are cruelty free?

    Thanks again!

    1. Hi Claire,
I use the inexpensive elf bb cream, it has SPF 20 and it’s cruelty free. I love the moisture it gives my skin. Rosehip oil should help with acne and scars. It’s my most favorite beauty oil besides when I use olive oil to remove my makeup. 🙂
      Good luck,

  15. Franchessa Enriquez

hi. I just bought a rose hip oil yesterday. I am planning to use it as a moisturizer every night. or do i need to get a moisturizer then rose oil after? Can i use baking soda as facial wash? no soap or cleanser. After washing my face with baking soda i will put rose oil. Is this okay? or do i need to buy a toner also?

    1. You’re on the right track! Yes! You don’t need to get an additional moisturizer. But you can use a moisturizer before the rosehip oil and let the rosehip oil be a protective barrier at night to lock in the moisturizer. You don’t need a toner, depends on your skin type. Dry skin no. Oily skin yes!

  16. Hello! I am 32 years old and started noticing fine lines and dark circles/bags under my eyes in my late 20s. They’re not horrible (but I do feel self conscious about it because I feel I look older than other women my age) I don’t drink or smoke. I recently bought almond and rosehip oil (and I typically exfoliate with a milk and nutmeg mixture, I was curious about the baking soda scrub but don’t want to keep myself from being able to tan so may stick with my other exfoliate. My question is for wrinkles and dark circles do you have a morning/night regiment to recommend? I do nit have the vegetable glycerin thought is that a big deal? I guess ny main question is should I mix these together, or apply them separately like one in the morning and the kther at night? Any tips would be really appreciated!

    1. Hi Jennifer, It sounds like you have done a great job exfoliating. After reading what you are experiencing, I would be less aggressive now with the baking soda and use more of the roseship seed oil and gently massage your under eye area pressing from your nose area to outward towards your ear. outward . I think your face is not properly draining at night. Your lymph system. You can massage before bed and in the morning to help flush his area. It happened to me! My under eyes were very dark! I use the almond oil under my eyes at night, it helps brighten the under eye area and keeps it moist to banish wrinkles and your eye area will be plump and most in the morning. In the morning I’ll rinse my face with luke warm or cold water to get the blood flowing. Add a little rose hip seed in the morning under your eyes and massage it into the under eye area. You can do that on damp skin so it easily glides and does not pull your skin. You can also add the rose hip seed oil on the rest of your face for total moisture. When you’re done add more reship seed oil under your eye and let it absorb. That should really help you. Also it helps to not sleep on your stomach! I sleep on my side.
Good luck, give it a month and let me know if there’s a difference.
      XO Jen

      1. Thanks! One more question I’ve been putting sunblock on my face in the mornings but not sure if/when I should with the rosehip? Tips on that? Thanks! Could I mix some drops into the sunblock and apply it all over my face that way or would that not be as beneficial? I appreciate your time and advice!

  17. Hi Jennifer, I am 27years old. I have combination skin type and recently I noticed huge pores around my T zone and also fine cracks on my cheeks. I think my skin is losing elasticity. I am very distressed of all this transformation of my face and now I live in a tropical region. My pores are more visible and I have breakout every now and then. Now I am even scared to look at the mirror. Please help me to restore my skin health.

    1. Hi Tia,
You sound dehydrated and also in need of bi-weekly microdermabrasion and nightly facial massages using roseship seed oil. Also, witch hazel to tighten pores.
