Skin Care Benefits for Olive Oil
#1 Soften your Skin

The skin care benefits for olive oil are amazing for softening your skin. Olive oil will absorb deep into the layers of your skin! Olive oil is one of the few natural oils that can get deep down and moisturize your skin naturally. To get an intense moisture, apply the olive oil at the end of your warm shower. Rub it all over your skin. The warm water will help it seep into your skin. The result is soft and moisturized skin. It’s best to apply when your skin is warm and fresh out of the shower because the olive oil will absorb faster. If you apply it to your skin when your skin is cold or room temperature, it’s going to take a long time to absorb! If your skin is very rough, I suggest you try exfoliating with adding a teaspoon of baking soda to your olive oil. The baking soda will help loosen and exfoliate any excess dry dead skin so you can moisturize as deep as possible. Also read: Baking Soda for Skin Care.

Skin Care Benefits for Olive Oil
What’s the best Olive Oil to use on your skin?

I recommend any brand of olive oil as long as it’s extra virgin olive oil because that means it’s 100% olive oil and does not contain any fillers or cheaper oils. There’s also many olive oil products out there on the market but the best it to use olive oil in it’s natural form for best results. i wouldn’t purchase any beauty products that claim to have olive oil in them because the other ingredients in the product could have lots of chemicals.

How Often Should I use olive oil on my skin?

Daily! Night and day! I highly recommend that you use olive oil on your skin for as many skin care remedies and treatments as possible! Sure, there’s other oils out there but olive oil is high quality and inexpensive. I use olive oil for my face and body. Olive oil is a medium weight oil. For example: Rosehip seed oil is the most light weight oil making it perfect for your face if you have sensitive skin and this oil is slightly expensive so I save it for my face. Castor oil is the heaviest oil and needs to be diluted with either olive oil or almond oil. I hope that makes sense! Please feel free to ask me any questions! Like I mentioned above, I love using olive oil every night to remove all my makeup. I also love to shower with it and moisturize my feet overnight worn under cotton socks.

Why you should only use “EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL”

I wondered this for years what the difference was between regular olive oil and extra virgin olive oil. Brace yourselves because holy moly there’s reasons why you’ll never want to buy regular olive oil ever again. (BTW- do you call it EVOO? After watching the Rachael ray cooking showyou kinda have to. lol.)

Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the highest quality of olive oil. (you can see by looking at the price tag too) This deluxe classification ensures perfection in flavor, purity, and freshness. I say purity also because there’s been lots of news stories talking about fraudulent Italian olive oils using oils from unknown sources. Yikes!

When Olive Oil is pure and extra virgin, it has a free acicidy – oleic acid. This is only possible when it’s processed by heat regulated machinery to keep the nutrients dense and intact.

To be officially called “Extra Virgin Olive Oil” the olive oil must be found pure and in absolute perfection of quality and maintain the delicate fruitiness element. Official olive oil taste testers will describe the perfect olive oil to have the three qualities – Fruity, Pungent, and Bitter.

So there you have it, you get more nutrients, better taste, and actual real olive oil without it being “watered down” with a cheaper oil.

What other kinds of Olive Oils are there?!

Oh my goodness, just when you thought there was just regular olive oil and extra virgin – there’s more, LOTS MORE! What?!

According to the Olive Oil Standards of the International Olive Council aka the big IOC, there’s more and here they are:

Skin Care Benefits for Olive Oil
How to use Olive Oil for Best Results:

I suggest you try using olive oil after a warm bath or shower. This way, your skin is more supple and able to absorb the oil faster. This also ensures you won’t be walking around the house with oily looking skin that’s just sitting on the surface of your skin. I have just slathered myself in olive oil without showering before and it didn’t absorb into my skin very well, it took 1 hour and I had to wipe away a lot of excess oil.
Which number is your favorite or which will you try?

  1. You can actually save a lot of money and just use olive oil straight out of the bottle, it’s what a cleansing oil basically is. I would not use an advertised cleansing oil that foams or has any other ingredients besides just plain olive oil. There could be chemicals that are causing damage to your skin.

  2. I have been using olive oil a lot, from eating using for face and for hair, but I don’t think olive oil can treat the dandruff, but also thanks for sharing several benefits of olive oil that I’ve never known before.

  3. Jen, this is an awesome list. Learned a lot of things I never knew! I can’t wait to try to # 32 & #38!! I am so sorry to hear about your mother, but thank you for sharing. I will never forget that tip.

  4. May I just say what a comfort to discover someone who genuinely understands what they’re discussing on the internet.
You actually know how to bring a problem to light and make it important. More people really need to read this and understand this side of your story.

  5. This list is so useful and complex, I absolutely love it! Found out so many other benefits of olive oil that are so great, especially during the winter period. Thank you for the great information! 🙂

  6. Hi, I would like to ask you is it ok to mix rose oil and olive oil? If you know what the advantage by mixing them together, please tell me. Thankyou

    1. You could mix them if you skin is severely dry. Rosehip seed oil is a “dry oil” and olive oil is “carrier oil” If your have sensitive skin, I would only use the reship seed oil on the face because olive oil is very heavy and won’t absorb completely into the skin like reship seed oil. I hope that makes sense.
