Thanks for sharing. It always amazes me how much grey fuzz collects in my brush. Then again, I’m amazed how much dust floats around us all day and sticks to our hair’s oils.

I found this page through an image search. Your long thin fibers are the closest I’ve seen to what collects in the nylon bristle Denman I use when my hair is wet:

The mystery is that in the boar bristle brush I use when my hair is dry, I find only clean hair – no thin fibers and none of the gray sebum and dust paste so many people report. I don’t see any fibers in my actual head hair:

Certainly curious where they come from! I’ve been “no-poo” water only washing for many years now, except I do a vinegar rinse to cope with very hard water. Don’t see how that could create fibers…

Thank you for this. I always felt I might be damaging my boar bristle brush washing it like a synthetic brush. Now I know how to clean them. Yay!

In reply to Itachi. I try to wash my brush every two weeks. It depends how dirty your brush gets. The more dirty it gets, the more often you'll want to wash it. Jen
